Bucket-list Zanzibar experiences come by the bucket-load on this full day tour. You’ll sail in a traditional wooden dhow boat into Menai Bay Conservation Area to see the sandbank that grows and disappears, have a seafood lunch on Kwale Island, snorkel at two reefs, spot dolphins and even climb ancient baobab trees.
The village of Fumba will be your casting off point for the tour, where your crew will hoist the sails to guide you into Menai Bay, a marine conservation area. The uninhabited islands, sandbanks and reefs make it the picture-perfect spot for two guided snorkelling sessions. You’ll even walk over a sandbank and look out for dolphins.
Next you’ll head for Kwale Island where a spread of seafood and tropical fruits will be served for lunch. You’ll eat with your feet in the sand, followed by free time. On the way back, you’ll sail in a ‘ngalawa’ - a canoe made by hand from a single mango trunk to swim in a lagoon surrounded by mangrove forest. Then, climb a baobab tree before the crew hoists sails for the cruise into Fumba.
