Embark on a journey through time at the Khor Virap monastery, a culturally and historically significant site in Armenia. In the Ararat province, Khor Virap - Armenian for 'deep pit' - is where Saint Gregory the Illuminator was imprisoned for 13 years. This sacred site bears witness to the birth of Armenian Christianity, a testament to Armenia's status as the first nation to adopt Christianity as an official religion.
This combined private tour is quite rich in program and takes almost an entire day. First on the route is the spiritual center of Armenia – Echmiadzin, with visits of sites, included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List. There will be stops at the churches of St. Hripsime and St. Gayane, further – at Mother Cathedral, the main cathedral of the Armenian Apostolic Church and the very first Christian cathedral in the World. Currently, the cathedral is under reconstruction and, unfortunately, it can only be viewed from the outside. Afterwards you'll see the 7th century Zvartnots temple, which was one of the tallest buildings of its time and conclude this wonderful tour.
