Vicenza is a small town full of places of historical and cultural interest, including several museums and architectural structures of great importance. Also known as the "City of Palladio", from the name of Andrea Palladio, the famous Renaissance architect who has designed and built here many buildings both civil and religious. Vicenza was also declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Among the architecture of Palladio we must mention the Basilica Palladiana, the Cathedral of Santa Maria Annunciata, the Basilica Sanctuary of the Madonna of Monte Berico, the Teatro Olimpico and the many historical buildings.
Vicenza also boasts of the title of capital of Italian gold processing, due to its many small craft businesses that continue a local goldsmith tradition that has lasted thousands of years.
