The Moominworld theme park is an ode to fairy tales based on a children’s culture classic and a tribute to Tove Jansson’s imagination. The Finnish author and illustrator created the Moomin characters for her books, the first of which, "The Moomins and the Great Flood", was published in 1945. Jansson's third Moomin book, "Finn Family Moomintroll" (1948), made an international breakthrough.
Tove Jansson, her brother Lars and TV producer Dennis Livson began creating Moomin animations at the end of the 1980's and it became a worldwide phenomenon with a total of 104 episodes. Following the success of the TV series, the idea for the theme park was thought up. Each year Naantali's Moominworld also receives visitors of all ages from all around the world.
Explore the island and visit the different Moomin homes and attractions, take a photo with your favourite characters, participate in an activity or watch a show at the theatre. There is so much to see and do at Moominworld and the whole family is guaranteed to have fun.
