This trip will take you to one of the oldest horse farms in Europe right by the Slovenian-Italian border. Lipica Stud Farm almost has an American Midwest feel - despite being in Slovenia - with white-picket fences leading up to rustic-looking stables. You can nose around the grounds with a clued-up guide who will tell you all about the famous Lipizzaner horses. They've been bred here for over 400 years surviving three wars and starring in a 1960s Disney film - Miracle of the White Stallions. You can pace around the historic yard see the mansion house and peek into Velbanca Lipica's most well-established stable. There's also a chance to see the Chapel of St Anthony and Lipikum an interactive museum telling the stallions' story.
