Embark on an intimate small-group tour limited to 10 travellers and led by a knowledgeable sumo guide. Start with a 2-hour guided walking tour of Ryogoku, followed by Grand Sumo Tournament bouts in the arena at 3.00 pm and Chanko-nabe dinner (sumo wrestlers meal) from 6.00 pm.
In the order box, you can select the ticket option that suits you best. Book all 3 activities (Walking tour + Sumo bouts + Chanko-nabe dinner) to learn all about Sumo, or choose your favourite mix of activities: Sumo bouts + Chanko-nabe dinner, Walking tour + Sumo bouts, or Sumo bouts only.
During the walking tour, your guide will show you the historical landmarks in Ryogoku sumo town: Sumo Stables, Nomi no Sukune Sumo Shrine, Sumida Hokusai Museum, Kyu-Yasuda Japanese Garden, Japanese Sword Museum, Ryogoku Kokugikan Sumo Arena, and Ryōgoku Edo NOREN.
The guide will then walk you through the sumo arena and show you murals, championship prizes, the Sumo museum, photos of Yokozunas from the Edo period, and much more on the way to your seat on the second floor. Your expert guide will also provide commentary throughout the sumo bouts.
After the bouts in the arena, the tour concludes with a traditional Chanko-nabe dinner, the ideal way to fully embrace the sumo culture. Your guide will take you to a reserved local restaurant serving very nutritious food called Chanko, designed to help sumo wrestlers gain weight and build muscle.
