Thanks to its sweeping harbour, seafront eateries and palm-lined pier, Izmir is known as ‘the beautiful waterfront'. Explore Turkey's third-largest city with a tour that has it all. The day kicks off in Konak Square where you'll get the lowdown on grand buildings like the governor's mansion, the historic clock tower, and Hisar Mosque – one of the most striking Ottoman-era artworks in Turkey. There's also a tour of the city's old quarter, free time in Kemeralti bazaar and a coffee break in an authentic Turkish café to try a bomba cake – the local sweet treat.
After a ferry ride across the bay, we round off at Westpark Mall. Izmir's biggest and best retail outlet boasts an aquarium, too. Entry is included, so you can choose to spend the afternoon in the shops or seeing shoals of exotic fish, sharks, stingrays and more.
