From the hotel, you will jump in your tuk tuk and drive to Angkor Archaeological Park and head straight to mighty 12th century Angkor Wat. Standing as the world’s largest religious structure, the ancient Khmer Empire capital is a sprawling city that is home to an impressive Hindu temple complex, baths, a library and other crumbling structures. Your next stop is Ta Prohm, which was built in the late-12th century by King Jayavarman VII as part of his vast construction programme that led to the creation of Angkor Thom and Bayon. Ta Prohm served as a university and Buddhist monastery. Today, its mystery captures the imaginations of visitors, with parts of the crumbling temple seemingly swallowed by giant roots of the ancient trees that overshadow it.
Please note: Visitors are required to keep their knees and shoulders covered at all sacred sites.
