All vine-covered peaks, thick woodlands and tucked-away villages, the Madonie Mountains are a snapshot of rural Sicilian life. On this tour, you'll explore the medieval village of San Mauro Castelverde before feasting on a typical Sicilian dinner.
San Mauro lies more than 1,000 metres above sea level, so you can look forward to great views over the valleys below. You'll have about an hour to check out the old architecture and browse the little shops, before heading out of town to the Trattoria La Posada. Here, you'll be introduced to some local specialities on a cooking course with Mrs Rosa.
She'll demonstrate three starters, using fresh seasonal ingredients, and you'll get to taste the end product. When you sit down to dinner, you'll enjoy Italian staples like pasta, meat and some great wine too. Then, once you've had your fill of local cuisine, there'll be time for some traditional dancing.
