Your journey through Mount Rainier National Park begins from The Nisqually Entrance.
From Nisqually, you’ll drive alongside the crystal-clear Nisqually River and get acquainted with the fascinating forest ecosystems you’ll encounter throughout the park. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife in the park, including blacktail deer and bears. Then visit the towering Comet Falls, one of the tallest in the park at 301 feet!
Stop at Ricksecker Point for jaw-dropping views of Mount Rainier, then dig into the mountain’s volcanic secrets, going back 40 million years! Driving along, you’ll spot the imposing Unicorn Peak and find out how its glaciers help keep the park lush and verdant. Hear about the park’s history in WWII, including the famed “Military Ski Patrol.” Discover how their training came in handy in the European Theater.
As you cruise through the lush and leafy “Quiet Corner” of the mountain, you’ll return to the origins of the park and find out how John Muir fought to protect Mount Rainier for future generations. Stop at the scenic Sunrise Point Lookout for some of the best views on the mountain, before continuing on to Sunrise Rim and Mount Fremont Lookout Trails. Your journey concludes here, but your adventure can just keep on going!
