On this half-day excursion, you will discover the fishing village of Santoña and its idyllic surroundings immersed in an extraordinary bay, the natural park of the Santoña Vitoria and Joel marshes, and the spectacular Mount Buciero as a backdrop. In truth, Santoña brings together all the elements to surprise the visitor who comes only to see it for its famous anchovy canning industry.
On this excursion, you will visit one of the main canning companies in the area and discover the secrets of its anchovy production. You will be surprised by the manual work behind the preparation of this gourmet product! You will also embark on a cruise through the bay (on a boat with a capacity for 100 people). This experience will last approximately 1 hour and will allow you to see the famous Horse Lighthouse from the sea and enjoy the magnificent views of Salvé Beach and the cliffs of Monte Buciero.
Once back at the pier, you will take a short walk along the promenade until reaching Fort San Martín, where you can admire the panoramic view of the promenade and the bay from the top of the fort. As a final stop and before restarting the way back to Santander, you will approach the port, one of the most important on the Cantabrian coast and an obligatory stop on the excursion, since this is the main entry point for the "Bocarte fishing", from which anchovy production is carried out.
