Hop-on the remork and take the ferry crossing the Mekong River to Silk Island (Koh Dach). Silk Island offers a respite from the bustling Phnom Penh and a great way to learn more about Cambodia’s silk weaving history.
You will arrive at a village of picturesque stilted houses with silk workshops. There you will meet the families who make their livelihoods from the old tradition of hand looming silk. You will learn about this process, starting with the transformation of a wool-like texture into a silk thread. You will even have the opportunity to try weaving by yourself. Silk items can also be purchased directly from each family.
Continue to wander through this fascinating village before visiting a local pagoda decorated with vivid colors. After that you will return to PhnomPenh before noon.
