The inside story

The National WWII Museum is a world-class facility in New Orleans that is the biggest war museum in the United States. The highly-rated and awarded museum around the world opened in 2000 and draws nearly 700,000 visitors a year.

Originally opened as a D-Day Museum on its 56th anniversary (June 6th), the museum brings to life the history of WWII through a number of immersive virtual experiences and interactive exhibitions.

Explore the Louisiana Memorial Pavilion and experience the sounds, sights, and emotions of what going to war would be like at the Union Pacific Train Station. Here, visitors can also visit exhibits that will tell the stories of those brave men and women who stormed the beaches of Normandy during the invasion on D-Day.

Tunes and other entertainment during the war years are showcased in the Victory Solomon Theater Pavilion. For those who want to see aircraft, vintage tanks and carriers, then a visit to the U.S Freedom Pavilion should be on your agenda. A real ''must-see'' - not only for history buffs!

The National WWII Museum is open every day of the week from 9 am to 5 pm except for Mardi Gras, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas. Hours might differ on other holidays so it's best to check on the official site. With parking available nearby, visitors can easily reach the museum by car, foot, or public transport.

Get your tickets to this one-of-a-kind museum, you won't want to pass up this type of experience when visiting New Orleans!
