Start this tour with a visit to the Gateway of India, Mumbai's principle landmark. This arch of yellow basalt was erected on the waterfront in 1924 to commemorate King George V's visit to the colony in 1911.
You’ll see the Afghan Church, the Secretariat of Maharashtra Government and experience driving along the Marine Drive, fondly known as the 'Queen's Necklace'.
Visit the extraordinary Jain temple and Hanging Gardens which offer splendid views of the city, Chowpatty, Kamala Nehru Park, the Prince of Wales Museum as well (closed on Mondays) as the Mani Bhavan where Mahatma Gandhi himself stayed during his visits to Mumbai.
Drive past the Haji Ali Mosque, a shrine in honor of a Muslim Saint that can be found on an island out at sea, linked by a causeway to the mainland (currently discontinued till 31st Dec' 2023 due to ongoing construction work).
Stop at the Dhobi Ghat and see an iconic scene of Mumbai's dirty washing being scrubbed, bashed, dyed and hung out to dry. You’ll be able to see the local trains passing by on which city commuters ‘hang our like laundry!’ - a nice photography stop.
Continue on to the colorful Crawford market and to the Flora fountain in a large bustling square in the heart of the city.
