Minsk is the largest city and capital of Belarus and as such the major cultural centre of the country. The city is a progressive and modern place with nightlife, art galleries and sushi bars.
Being mostly destroyed during WWII, Minsk has been rebuilt in the 1950s in a grand socialist architecture style, but ancient buildings still survive and delicately find their place in the urban context. Another interesting side of Minsk is that the city also has beautiful churches and parks to visit.
