Spread along the banks of the Nile, Aswan was ancient Egypt's gateway to Africa. Start things with a guided visit to the magnificent temple of Edfu. Its towering sandstone façade is bedecked with hieroglyphics of all sizes.
After lunch to fuel up for the afternoon, you'll glide across Lake Nasser towards the impressive Philae Temple. One of the oldest temples in Egypt, it's now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was painstakingly relocated brick by brick to make way for the Aswan Dam.
The day will end with some shopping in the picturesque surroundings of Aswan. You can also take a trip to the dam itself for good measure.
