Climb the highest summit in North Africa on this challenging 2-day excursion to Djebel Toubkal from Marrakesh!
Day 1: Marrakech - Imlil - Toubkal Refuge
After a 2-hour drive from your hotel in Marrakech, you reach Imlil, a mountain village and real gateway to the Toubkal massif. Leave your bags to the porters and start the ascent towards the refuge following the canals that irrigate the terraced crops. After the lunch break at Sidi Chamarouch’s small village, the mountain becomes arider and only a few goats and sheep guarded by young shepherds will accompany your walk. You'll spend the night at the Toubkal refuge (Neltner refuge, 3210 m).
Day 2: Toubkal Refuge - Toubkal Summit - Imlil - Marrakech
Start the ascent towards the summit going up a valley to the summit. Here, the view is striking, dominating a large part of the Atlas and the plains of Haouz (North) and Ouarzazate (South). You'll take the same way as Day 1 for the descent, stop at the refuge for a picnic, then reach Imlil to drive back to Marrakech.
