Experience traditional Moroccan life and stunning scenery on a day trip from Marrakech to four famous valleys in the Atlas Mountains. After morning pick-up from your hotel or riad in Marrakech, travel in a comfortable 4x4 vehicle or minivan through the Atlas Mountains, admiring snow-topped peaks on your 1-hour drive to Ourika Valley. This lush valley’s waterfalls are a lovely counterpoint to the surrounding landscape and the guided visit will help you to fully explore the waterfalls. Continue to watch women extracting Argan oil and visit a bio aromatic garden filled with decorative and medical plants.
Then, move onto the second valley of your trip, Oukaimeden Valley. Follow a mountain road at an elevation of 5,900 feet (1,800 meters), passing traditional Berber villages with houses made of adobe and stone. For lunch (not included), visit a local restaurant or take the amazing opportunity to have an authentic experience of the Berber culture by tasting a Moroccan lunch. Afterward, head toward the Asni Valley, located high in the Atlas Mountains. Marvel at Mt Toubkal, the highest peak in northern Africa at 13,665 feet (4,165 meters). Continue your journey into the Moroccan countryside for another hour. Travel to Takerkoust Lake and pass wheat fields and villages on your way to the Kik Plateau, a distinctive limestone outcropping in the Atlas Mountains that offers wonderful views of the lush valleys below. Return to Marrakech and drop-off at your hotel or riad in the evening.
