The wild and beautiful Tramuntana Mountains will be our constant companion on this scenic tour. You'll visit the Santuari de Lluc, discover the honey-stone village of Fornalutx, explore handsome Soller town and enjoy the views on a vintage train ride. Hugo, one of our expert local guides, says, ‘The people of Soller are very proud of their train. Because of its mountain location, Soller was hard to reach, so they built the railway with their own money a century ago, connecting them to Palma from where they could export their famous oranges.'
We kick off with a tour and an olive oil tasting at the serene Santuari de Lluc before heading along panoramic roads to Fornalutx. Fringed with orange and lemon groves, it oozes authentic Majorcan charm. It's no surprise it's often referred to as one of the prettiest villages in Spain. You'll have time to wander around the maze of cobbled streets and even do a spot of souvenir shopping from the local handicraft shops. We'll also pause to enjoy a freshly prepared lunch of local dishes to round off our visit to the village.
Next, we'll head to Soller, a busy town known for its historic mansions built by wealthy citrus fruit merchants. You'll have free time to explore the town, potter around the shops, or soak up the sun in an outdoor café. The day rolls to a close with a journey back in time on a wooden train inaugurated in 1912. You'll be seated in the VIP carriage to weave through the Sierra de Tramuntana to Son Reus, where you'll join the transfer back to base.
