This hike with extraordinary views connects two of Madeira Island's highest peaks, Pico Ruivo (1862 m) and Pico do Arieiro (1818 m), crossing the Central Mountain Massif area.
Between the ascents and descents along the trail, there is a steep climb up hundreds of steps carved into the rock when reaching Pico Ruivo, as well as a rather laborious descent. This is an excellent trail for nature lovers and those seeking physical challenges.
