This tour will give you the opportunity to discover the Itria Valley, an area characterized by the presence of the extraordinary "Trulli", mythical houses with a conical roof, built with overlapped dried limestones.
The whole Valley is surrounded by wonderful countrysides dominated by a rich vegetation and natural landscapes and includes characteristic villages, among which we will visit Alberobello, Martina Franca and Ostuni. Each of these towns seems enveloped in a magical, almost fairytale-like atmosphere.
Alberobello, a Unesco World Heritage Site since 1996, is the Apulian town with the largest number of Trulli. Destination of millions of tourists crowding its narrow streets, Alberobello offers visitor a unique scenario. Particularly striking are the two districts: "Rione Monti" with its local handcrafts shops and "Aia Piccola", where the most ancient Trulli and little museums are situated.
Martina Franca is in the eastern hills of the Murge. It is a melting pot of history and art. Very charming and quaint, its historical centre, with a unique artistic beauty, is presented to the visitor in a spectacular maze of narrow streets, whitewashed houses, charming streets, old churches, valuable Baroque buildings and wrought iron balconies. Among the structures that characterize the Old Town are the Palazzo Ducale, the Palazzo Stabile, the Basilica of San Martino, Piazza XX Settembre and Piazza Roma.
Ostuni is known as the “White City" par excellence. It is situated on the Murge Hills with steep walls and its historic centre, painted only in white, is a proliferation of plans, of ups and downs, of alleys and stairways, of tangled streets that cross arches and squares. On its summit stands the monumental Cathedral, in late Gothic style.
