As in a dive, visitors discover the seabed and fauna of the Mediterranean Sea, interact with the animals and, accompanied by a guide, have the opportunity to delve deeper into the most important phenomena of marine biology.
The Salento Aquarium is located 50 meters from the sea in Santa Maria al Bagno, a seaside village overlooking the Ionian coast. It is a "living museum" and offers a journey with seventeen seawater tanks of various sizes, distributed in four thematic rooms. Fish, molluscs, crustaceans and any other form of life hosted there are predominantly wild and are periodically returned to the sea and replaced thanks to the support of local fishermen.
