Killarney is the perfect spot to explore by bike. With a huge range of cycling routes to choose from and your electric bike to make things extra comfortable, you can choose whether to start from Ross Castle and the lakes or venture a little further afield.
Leave Killarney town behind and head off into Muckross in the heart of Killarney National Park. You'll cycle along Muckross road and over the Flesk bridge where you can cross the road to the cycling path which will lead you directly into the National Park. You'll head into the Yew Valley Wood towards the 15th century, Muckross Abbey, where you can take time to explore the well-preserved ruins and vaulted cloister.
You'll travel past traditional farms and the fine Victorian mansion, Muckross House. If you're a history buff, you could take a guided tour of the house and farms then, continue on to Muckcross Craft Centre. Located close to the house, this centre has a great restaurant and shop as well as a number of craft workshops which include bookbinding, weaving and pottery. Beyond that you'll find the famed Torc waterfall which is well-worth a visit!
If you have extra time, the Muckross-Dinis loop around Muckross Lake is a must-see. Be sure to travel the loop in an anti-clockwise direction only!
