Kathmandu is the capital of Nepal, which rise on the banks of the sacred rivers Bagmati and Vishnumati, formerly called Kantipur. Its historic center dates back to the seventeenth century and is full of Hindu temples, as the whole valley that gives its name to the city.
The Pashupatinath Temple is the most famous Hindu temples, dating from the sixth century, one of the seven groups of monuments that allow the Kathmandu valley to be considered a World Heritage Site. Near the city there are also a number of Buddhist sacred places such as the famous Monkey Temple or the Temple of Bodnath, which belongs to a Tibetan community escaped the persecution in China.
