Embark on a scenic journey from Pigadia, preparing for a 20-minute drive up to the mountains, standing at an impressive 600 meters above sea level. The adventure commences in the charming suburb of Pini Volada, nestled in Pini, offering a glimpse into the rural life of Karpathos. From the base of Art and Walk at Pini, you'll follow an ancient Karpathian trail through olive fields before descending into Othos, the highest village of Karpathos, perched at 510 meters above sea level.
As you leave Othos behind, the route transitions from asphalt to a slightly more challenging downhill off-road path. Throughout this journey, your final destination, Pigadia, remains visible. After about an hour, the view shifts as Saint George’s Monastery comes into sight, providing a welcome opportunity for a tea break under the shade of a stavlo.
The journey continues with the wind picking up, offering a refreshing respite from the warming sun. Before long, the town of Menetes appears on the horizon as you draw closer to Pigadia. Along the way, you'll pass small churches and encounter local wildlife, including goats and sheep. This walk is a delightful blend of natural beauty and cultural immersion, making it an essential experience when visiting Karpathos.
