The hills of Ischia have long been one of the favourite escapes of Italians. This half-day island tour takes in the best bits, passing through rustic hamlets and jaw-dropping mountain routes. Discover the beauty of Barano, Forio and more, and enjoy free time in the timeless coastal village of Sant'Angelo.
After pick-up, you'll enjoy a scenic, meandering drive along the southern slopes of Mt Epomeo. Pass through Barano d'Ischia, a series of scattered hamlets, and onto Serrara Fontana. It's a mishmash of peeling pastel-coloured housed and dinky churches.
There's a one-hour stop at the next village – Sant'Angelo, whose narrow, steep streets are laden with ice cream parlours and ceramic shops. Relax at the piazza and take in the views of the headland. Then, it's on towards the west coast and the town of Forio. It boasts a profusion of architectural styles – think whitewashed churches and stone watchtowers.
