Your first stop will be Doune, a small town in the lovely Stirlingshire countryside with a well-preserved 14th-century castle. Doune Castle has been seen on the TV shows Outlander and Game of Thrones. If you decide to enter the castle and learn about its exciting history, you can follow an audio tour of the castle, narrated by Monty Python’s Terry Jones!
Back on the road, there will be one comfort stop before entering the Highlands. Then you’ll be able to admire the passing lochs and mountains before a photo stop at Kilchurn Castle. Located on the banks of Loch Awe, Kilchurn remains one of the most photographed castles in Scotland. It’s impressive beauty is often used in calendars.
Your next stop will be Inverary, where your driver guide will give you a tour of the picturesque town. You’ll have free time to explore the area and have lunch. Highlights include the local jail and castle, which has been featured in Downtown Abbey.
After leaving Inverary, you’ll pass the beautiful Loch Fyne and head over the mountains. There will be a brief photo stop at the top of Rest & be Thankful Pass.
Your last stop will be the village of Luss, by the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond. Once you’re ready, the tour will head back to Edinburgh, passing through Stirling and giving you a great view of its castle.
