You'll be whisked to the port town of Algeciras, from where you'll take a relaxing train journey through gorgeous Andalusian countryside to the canyon-top city of Ronda. Its dizzying location will make you wonder how the British engineers managed to even lay the railway track all the way to the top in the 19th-century.
After a short guided walking tour upon arrival to get your bearings, you'll have loads of free time to soak up its elegant architecture and sights. Drink in the incredible views from the Puente Nuevo, the arched bridge spanning the 100-metre gorge that slices through the town. Delve into the cobbled Old Town, shopping for souvenirs and visiting the many palatial museums on offer too.
Save time to see Ronda's immense bullring, too. The oldest in Spain, it was made famous by the writings of Hemingway, who loved Ronda, and was a one-time resident. There's a lot more here to while away the day, like parks, a cathedral and plenty of excellent restaurants and bars.
