Come and discover the dramatic beauty of the Cornish landscape and coastline that's featured in Poldark on this day tour.
After pick-up from your hotel, you will meet your local Cornish tour guide and Poldark expert. The day starts off with a visit to probably the most original, unspoiled port in the world. It is home to a number of square-rigged sailing ships and is used as the location for Truro Harbour in the filming of Poldark. From here you’ll travel the past real Truro and Falmouth and on to the far West stopping firstly at a picturesque fishing cove used in the second series of Poldark.
You'll then travel a few miles on to visit Porthcurno and The Minack Theatre. The Minack Theatre provides the best views over Pedn Vounder beach which was used in Poldark Series 1 and down to Porthcurno beach featured in Poldark Series 2. The views from here are unrivaled and it is one of the most iconic photo locations in Cornwall. You will then head on further west to Porthgwarra, the pretty cove used in Poldark Series 1 for the pilchard boat scene, and also from where Demelza spies on Ross taking his early morning swim. It was also used as the location for Mark’s escape by boat to France in the first series.
There will be a lunch stop at a reputable pub/restaurant in the area. After lunch, you will wind your way on to Botallack. The farmhouse ‘Botallack Manor’ was used in the original 1970’s series as Ross Poldarks’ home, ‘Nampara’. The clifftop settings at Botallack with disused Engine houses and mine buildings set right on the cliff edge are extremely dramatic and have their own story to tell. Two of the mines here are used as the locations for Wheal Leisure, Wheal Grace and Wheal Grambler in Poldark.
From here, you will head up the scenic coastal road to St Ive's and back up to your starting point, where your driver-guide will return you to your hotel.
