This Segway™ tour leads through the Parc de la Ciutadella and to the Port Olímpic, the sports harbor that was constructed for the 1992 Summer Olympics and since then is being used as one of Barcelona's major sports harbors.
The Port Olímpic is home to one of Barcelona's most famous art pieces, el Peix d'Or" by Frank Gehry right, located next to the Casino de Barcelona, and a number of the city's most popular restaurants and nightlife venues. Opened in 1991, the Port Olímpic hosted competitions of the different sailing disciplines during the Barcelona Olympic Games. It is located on the southern end of the area that was most affected by the urban renewal program that was realized for the Olympics.
The neighborhood around the Port Olímpic was transformed thoroughly and is since called "Parc de Mar" or "Villa Olímpica del Poblenou". There are two of the most popular beaches of Barcelona next to the Port Olímpic - the city beach "La Barceloneta" and the "Platja de la Nova Icària".
