What to expect

Experience the traditional Japanese art of Kintsugi in the heart of Shibuya.

Choose your preferred piece from several types of old Japanese pottery. Sand the surface of the black lacquer with waterproof paper to make it smooth. Prepare red lacquer (Bengara lacquer) as a base for the gold powder. Carefully apply the Bengara lacquer over the cracked areas without overlapping.

Finish the process by sprinkling gold powder over the Bengara lacquer. Place the pottery in the "Tsugutsugu Special Lacquer Drying Box" and take it home the same day.

This experience is available for 2 to 6 people
When taking your piece home, please place it in the "Special Lacquer Box" and leave it in a warm room at 20-30°C for 1 day to 1 week with the box closed to allow it to dry
You'll use real lacquer. Please be aware that lacquer can cause skin irritation if it comes into contact with your skin. You'll wear gloves to protect your skin while working, so please follow the kintsugi master's instructions. The workshop provider is not responsible for any injuries or skin irritations that may occur
Please note that if you arrive late, the workshop can't be extended
Please wear clothing that you don't mind getting dirty
