You will depart from Santander towards Altamira Museum, the houses here are the scale replica of the "room of paintings", the so-called Neocave. This cave was declared World Heritage by Unesco in 1985. This cave is a natural cavity in the rock, with paintings dated from 40,000 years ago and it stands as one of the most important pictorial and artistic cycles of prehistoric paintings int he world. To protect its preservation, it currently allows only five people to visit it per week and this is the reason they created this replica of the cave (the so-called "neocave").
Afterward, you will next visit Santillana del Mar, one of the nicest villages in Spain. It is in fact, a beautiful medieval village of cobbled streets and one of the best-known cultural and tourist centers of Cantabria. You will go through its narrow streets until you reach its Plaza Mayor and Collegiata Church of Santa Julina, a church that you will have the opportunity to visit. Finally, you will enjoy some free time fin Santillana before departure back to Santander.
