The inside story
The Moscow State Circus invites guests to watch their acts focused on Eastern European culture. Unlike its contemporaries, the circus’s shows all contain a narrative and are dance oriented with a mix of traditions including clowning, juggling, acrobatics, contortion and animal acts. The shows are directed by the infamous Zapashny brothers whose acts involve the most dangerous stunts with animals.
It’s main glass walled facility on Vernadsky Prospekt was opened on 30 April 1971 containing five quickly changing arenas including equestrian, ice and aquatics. Topped with an impressive dome at a height of 36 meters and seating up to 3,300 people, The Moscow State Circus is the world’s largest stationary circus.
