Mexico offers a great variety of climates and vegetation, mainly in the southern part of the country. Don't miss the chance to discover them with this excursion through Cuernavaca and Taxco. You'll appreciate spectacular road landscapes, full of trees and colourful flowers.
Cuernavaca, the "City of eternal Spring" is the first stop of your trip, and here you can appreciate a great diversity of flora. It has been a place of recreation and relaxation, from the Aztec emperors to the present. Here Hernan Cortez ordered the construction of a palace. You'll visit the cathedral (formerly the Convent of the Assumption). In front of it, there is the Borda Garden, an old hacienda that at some point was the resting place of the Emperor Maximilian of Hapsburg. You'll also see the Palacio de Cortes.
Then visit Taxco, the "Silver Capital of the World" which is one of the treasures of the Sierra Madre. A colonial city with hundreds of years of history. Explore this picturesque little town, with cobbled streets and narrow, full of silver jewellery workshops. Here there will be time to have lunch where you wish. Then you'll visit Santa Prisca, one of the largest churches in Mexico (1759). Admire its baroque style of New Spain. Taxco is known worldwide for its silver mines and is one of the oldest mining centres on the continent. You will have the opportunity to see and buy silverware.
