Finland is one of the world’s best places for foraging wild foods. This experience will give you the chance to hunt your own mushrooms in a national park before enjoying a Finnish-style lunch over the campfire.
In this tour you will be heading to Liesjärvi National Park which turns into a foragers' paradise from the end of summer until late autumn. You will begin your experience with a hike through the forest, heading to some of the best mushroom picking spots.
You will be hunting the mushrooms in pairs, and each pair will be provided with a mushroom basket, a knife, and a small handbook. You will be on the lookout for trumpet chanterelles, golden chanterelles and penny buns, three prized fungi of the forest which you may have the chance to cook and taste during the lunch break.
Throughout the hunt, your guide will keep you informed as to which mushrooms can be picked and eaten, and will always be available to explain about the ones you have found. As this is a small group tour, you will also be able to have all your personal questions answered.
Once the group has gathered enough mushrooms, you will make your way to the campfire by the lakeside. While your guide starts the fire and prepares a traditional Finnish-style lunch with campfire coffee, you will have plenty of time to take photos, enjoy conversation with one another and experience the tranquility of the Taiga forest.
