On this tour you'll discover the Vegueta of Santa Ana, which was declared a national artistic and historic location on April 5, 1973. The Royal Village of Three Palms was founded in 1478 by Juan Rejon Captain of Castille, so the city and the military fort began forming at the end of XV century.
First you'll stop around the historicla ermitage, where Columbus prayed before the great adventure in 1492. All cobbled stones streets are reminders of such period, with narrow streets not facing the sea. In the Plaza of San Antonio Abad, an old Portuguese street where the Governor of the island used to live, today there's a reconverted museum, obviously on behalf of Columbus.
You'll then visit the famous balconies street, where you can admire the first noble houses after the conquest of the island. There you can also find the Plaza of the new Pillar with its fountain dating back to XVIII century, just in the rear of the Cathedral. Just turning to the right, you'll pass close to the Prime Atlantic Cathedral of Santa Ana with its Gothic interior and its historical contribution to the Canaries and the new world. After that, you'll continue down the plaza de Santa Ana, with its monumental buildings emblematic and representative of the society.
