Must-sees in Formentera
Formentera Island Tour with Winery Visit and Tasting
Blemish-free beaches, sleepy harbour towns and a go-slow pace as standard – it's hard to believe that Formentera stayed under the holidaymaking radar for so long. On this half-day outing, you'll stop by the viewpoint of Es Mirador, before a visit to Terramoll winery for a tour and tasting session. Maria, one of our expert local guides, says, ‘Keep your eyes peeled in the middle of the island for giant fig trees. They look like massive vegetation-roofed huts. Apart from the thick central trunk, multiple wooden legs are added by farmers to make it easier to pick the figs – and keep them out of the reach of goats.'Our first stop will be the lookout of Es Mirador. As Formentera's highest point, it's the best spot to take in the panorama across the island, and perhaps snap a few selfies. On a clear day, you'll even see Ibiza on the horizon. When you've had your fill of the awesome scenery, it's time to set off for the next destination. En route, you'll pass by farms and fields, and glimpse coastal landscapes, all adding to the island's charm.Next up is a visit to the family-run Terramoll winery in La Mola. Here, after a guided tour of the vineyards and wine cellar, you'll tuck into locally produced nibbles such as cheese, cold-cuts and olives. And, a trip to a winery wouldn't be complete without trying some of the fruits of its labour, with tastings of red, white and rosé wine rounding off the tour.
