Erbil

Erbil, or Arbil, locally called Hawler is the capital of Iraqi Kurdistan and city with the highest population in the Kurdish areas. It is located almost in the center of the region of Iraqi Kurdistan and in the north of Iraq. In the archaeological museum visitors can explore a large collection of pre-Islamic artefacts, particularly from Mesopotamia. The city was Arab Tourism Capital 2014 and the Citadel of Arbil was inscribed as a World Heritage site in July 2014.
