Introducing Dokkum

Discover the Dutch fortified town of Dokkum and its historical atmosphere. Admire the town’s gables, canals and strongholds and learn how it was the first headquarters of the Frisian Admiralty.

Take a stroll past the Rijksmonument ‘De Hoop’ windmill and admire the 17th-century houses lining the waters. See St Boniface chapel and the statue of the saint located inside the small park. Then, visit the former Admirality building of Friesland and Groningen that is home to the Dokkum Museum.
