Cheese making, bread baking, honey, raki and more – this trip is a true taste of Cretan life. Calling by cobblestone villages, clinging to the hillsides, you'll live life like a local as you pick fresh garden vegetables, make fresh sheep's milk cheese and take part in a traditional Greek cooking lesson before dining on your creations for lunch.
Things kick off at the home of a real Cretan family. Welcomed with a good strong brew of wild herbs known as “mountain tea”, you'll grab a basket and head to the garden to pick fresh vegetables – you'll prepare these for lunch later.
Head to the village of Kato Karouzanos, and as well as seeing how they're made, you'll get to sample Greek honey and homemade raki – an aniseed-flavoured tipple. Help out baking village bread and you can even try your hand at sheep milking – it makes delicious cheese – before using all the ingredients to prepare yourself a feast of local favourites washed down with free-flowing wine.
