Go off the beaten path in Burgas with a walking tour. Often overlooked in favour of noisy neighbour Nessebar, it's a place most tourists miss out on – despite it being the second-biggest city on Bulgaria's Black Sea coast. Let an in-the-know local show you all the hidden hotspots of this coastal gem during a two-hour tour.
Sandwiched between a wealth of wetlands on one side and the Black Sea on the other, Burgas is nicknamed the City of Sea and Lakes. Follow your guide through the backstreets of Bulgaria's largest port, and you'll hear the history of this centuries-old city. At one time or another, it's been ruled by the Romans, Byzantines and most recently, the Ottoman Empire.
There'll also be a chance to admire the intricately carved cathedral, the town hall, and Surp Hach Church – a touching tribute to the victims of the Armenian Genocide in WWI.
