The Hash Marihuana & Hemp Museum is located in the centre of Barcelona in the Mornau Palace. An imposing building constructed in the 15th Century and remodelled by the modernist architect Raspall, in 1908.
The museum houses a permanent and unique exhibition featuring the past, present and future of the cannabis plant and its unsurpassable potential as a versatile source for industrial, nutritional, medicinal, sacramental and recreational purposes. The collection consists of unusual objects related to all aspects of the history of cannabis culture, which its founder Ben Dronkers has gathered over the past 40 years worldwide.
Take a deep dive into the cannabis comic world with the temporary exhibition Puff Puff Pass! - Cannabis Comix. The Comics Code Authority in the US began marking the covers of comics with its seal of approval in 1954. Although the Code did not specifically forbid showing the use of cannabis, a clause prohibited all elements that offended good taste or decency.
In the late 1960s, the ‘underground comix’ legends began to create cannabis strips. As these comics were distributed in seed banks and grow shops, they could escape the Code’s control, and prosper amongst comic readers.
Nowadays, with more and more countries choosing to legalize cannabis, the work of a new generation of illustrators shows that they do not need anyone’s approval. The exhibition ‘Puff Puff Pass!’ browses through the ‘smoky’ adventures of various cannabis stars.
