Al Ain Zoo is a 400-hectare zoo located in the foothills of Jebel Hafeet in Al Ain, Abu Dhabi and it's the first zoo of its kind in the Middle East, founded in 1968.
The Zoo is known globally for its efforts in the conservation of nature and wildlife, and its protection of about 4000 animal species. As the largest zoo of its type in the Middle East, and for more than 50 years, Al Ain zoo has continued to convey the pioneering vision of the late Sheikh Zayed. It demonstrates his keenness to preserve wildlife in the United Arab Emirates by maintaining the environment and sustaining its resources in accordance with the best global standards.
Magnificently positioned against the imposing backdrop of Jebel Hafeet, and a majestic finger-like extension of the rugged Hajar Mountains, the ground-breaking Al Ain Safari is being masterfully crafted out of the desert environment to incorporate its pristine surrounds. The full safari will cover 217 hectares of land along the base of the mountain range.
