Una absorbente mezcla de lo familiar y lo exótico, Gibraltar es una visita obligada. Esta excursión incluye sus principales atracciones: los monos berberiscos del Peñón, las cuevas de San Miguel y Main Street. Rosa, una de nuestras guías locales, afirma: "Gibraltar es uno de los choques culturales más insólitos que he conocido. Se parece a mi Andalucía natal, pero todo parece británico. Pasear y escuchar a los gibraltareños hablar en su simpático dialecto es siempre un placer".

La diversión comienza con una excursión en minibús por el Peñón de Gibraltar, que sobresale 426 metros por encima del Mediterráneo. La primera parada es Punta Europa, donde hay un monumento al general Władysław Sikorski, que murió aquí durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial. En la Roca Superior, conocerás a los simios de Berbería, los únicos monos salvajes de Europa. Rosa dice: "Hay unos 300 monos en la Roca. Una leyenda local dice que si los monos desaparecen, Gibraltar dejará de ser británico". La siguiente parada es la Cueva de San Miguel. Antaño hogar de neandertales y utilizada como hospital de guerra durante la II Guerra Mundial, ahora es una evocadora sala de conciertos.

Volviendo al nivel del suelo, el centro de Gibraltar tiene un marcado aire británico, ya sea por las obvias cabinas rojas de teléfono y correos o por otras más sucintas, como los marcos arqueados de las puertas georgianas. Disfrute de una tarta o de unas patatas fritas con pescado para almorzar antes de ir de compras. Main Street, donde se encuentran muchas de las cadenas de tiendas británicas, es famosa por sus tiendas libres de impuestos.
