Katakolon may be small in size, but it's big on things to do. Dubbed as 'the gateway to Olympia', this small seaside town hosts a port where cruise ships regularly stopover to explore. On this easygoing morning trip, we'll drop you in the heart of Katakolon for some free time to see the sights, shop for souvenirs or grab some lunch at a traditional taverna.
Head in early and you'll have around three hours to spend at your own leisure. After having a look at the harbour and cruise port, a relaxed walk into the town's Main Street will take roughly 10 minutes. Lined with small shops, stalls and quaint, independent boutiques, it's the perfect place to grab a range of local products, souvenirs, jewellery, and local Greek delicacies.
You'll also find heaps of traditional tavernas and cafés. The area is famed for its fresh seafood, including octopus and calamari. You'll also find typical Greek dishes such as moussaka, souvalki and Greek salad.
